Nature’s Fynd is a groundbreaking food tech company born out of NASA-supported research on extremophiles in the geothermal pools of Yellowstone National Park. Our novel fermentation technology produces a sustainable source of complete protein using only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture. This role will be freelance with the potential for full-time hire. The Designer will play a crucial role as the company expands and the Marketing Team focuses on marketing a remarkable brand and set of products across the country. This person needs to be highly detail-oriented while maintaining flexibility. The right candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments and display exceptional multi-tasking skills and a proactive and problem-solving attitude. They will work alongside one other full-time designer as well as with freelancers and a creative team to meet the demands of the business and scale our creative as the brand grows.
Designers with a diverse background and skillset will do well here, balancing the variety of creative needs of the business. This includes but is not limited to print and digital design, motion graphics, illustration, video production and post production, and UX/UI design. 
The Designer is expected to communicate effectively to ensure objectives are met and to guide strategic decisions in the early stages of projects. They should stay up to date with industry trends and competitors, produce ideas and sell the best ones into the team, and proactively keep the team up to date on project milestones and issues as they arise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review briefs and determine creative requirements and identify limitations or constraints
  • Contribute to project scheduling and resourcing
  • Conceptualize and create custom visuals based on requirements
  • Prepare concepts, present ideas in a strategic manner and provide rationale for design decisions
  • Develop designs using software or by hand
  • Ensure designs follow brand guidelines, proactively influence the guidelines as the brand evolves
  • Work with copywriters and relevant stakeholders to create design deliverables and export final files
  • Test designs across various media
  • Effectively implement feedback in design revisions
  • Review and provide feedback on work from third-party vendors

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • Required:
  • Sample portfolio or links to previous work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details
  • Strong proficiency in foundational design concepts (typography, layouts, color spaces)
  • A full and fluent knowledge of current design tools and software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Industry experience in the design field
  • Ability to work methodically in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, while juggling multiple projects with varying due dates
  • A background of working well as part of a creative team and receiving feedback
  • The ability to work independently as well as with a larger team
  • The ability to think creatively and deliver on-brand, bold concepts
  • Ability to work non-standard hours when necessary

  • Preferred:
  • Experience in motion design/animation (primarily After Effects)
  • Experience in video editing, photography, and/or content capture
  • Experience in digital illustration
