We’re a wonderfully diverse, growing team with physical offices in London and New York City.

Demand for Climate X is growing fast, and we need to build our team! You’ll be at the front of a nascent industry, working as part of a fantastic and diverse team, doing things that you can be proud of. We’re excited to have the opportunity to speak with you during this process.

Our mission

To deepen the understanding of our changing planet and inspire meaningful action.

What we do

  • We’re helping the world become more resilient to the impacts of physical climate risks (including floods, fires, storms and more). In doing so, we help drive positive global impact aligned to many of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
  • Our team builds cutting-edge, peer-reviewed science (incorporating climate projections, remote sensing data) and translates that into financial impacts (to the value of assets or business disruption linked to failure of critical infrastructure) that our customers in the financial services industry use to identify, manage and mitigate those risks.
  • Climate X’s customers include the world’s largest banks, asset managers and insurance companies including CBRE, Standard Chartered, as well as a partnership ecosystem that includes Deloitte, Capgemini and AWS. Combined, they manage over $6.5 trillion of assets.
  • Customer’s choose us thanks to our ecosystem of products that help solve real human problems, and drive tangible business benefits to our customers. They love our customer-centric mindset, as well as our pace of innovation in the market.

The impact you'll own

We're seeking a UX Designer to spearhead the development and maintenance of our design system, enhancing the efficiency of our engineering team and elevating the user experience of our products. This role is pivotal in bridging design and development, ensuring consistency, usability, and scalability across our platform.

  • Design System Development: Establish and maintain a comprehensive design system comprising reusable components, patterns, and guidelines to streamline the development process and ensure design consistency.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers to facilitate the seamless implementation of design components, enabling faster coding and reducing redundancy.
  • Product Enhancement: Collaborate with Product Managers to translate user needs and business requirements into intuitive and engaging user interfaces, reducing reliance on design tools like Figma for routine tasks.
  • User Experience Optimization: Continuously assess and improve the usability and accessibility of our products, ensuring a superior experience for our customers.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement within the team.

Essential skills

  • Proven experience as a UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing the development of design systems and user-centric designs in a B2B SaaS environment.
  • Expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, and familiarity with front-end development technologies to facilitate effective collaboration with engineers.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and usability best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for user needs across teams.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading design initiatives, demonstrating the ability to inspire and elevate the work of others.

Desirable skills

  • Familiarity with climate change impacts and adaptation strategies, particularly in financial risk assessment.
  • Experience working with financial services products or enterprise SaaS solutions.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience working in cross-functional teams.

Success in this role means

  • Engineers are able to code faster due to access to a well-maintained library of reusable components.
  • Product Managers have more time to focus on understanding customer problems and requirements, as they spend less time on design tasks.
  • Customers enjoy a better experience using our product, thanks to improved usability and design consistency.
