Mechanical Engineer Intern

Voltpost is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student or recent graduate to join our team for the Spring semester of 2022. The ideal candidate will have complete all of their undergraduate courses in the physical sciences, as well as the basic mechanical engineering classes (statics, mechanics, mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics) as well as some coursework in machine design, sheet metal design, and design for manufacturing. Coursework in mechatronics or robotics is highly desirable. Experience working with electronics workbench tools (Oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, digital multimeters, etc) a big plus.

Voltpost Inc is a startup based in San Francisco, CA working on solving urban curbside public charging through the development of a lamppost retrofit electric vehicle charger. We are a venture backed startup that has secured pre-seed funding to build out our proof of concept.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on challenging problems in the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) space by helping prepare our prototype for pilot, and will develop experience in product development, product design, as well as have the opportunity for hands on experience with laser cutters, CNC Mills, Lathes, Woodworking equipment, electronics design and assembly, standards testing, and manufacturing.

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with CAD modeling (Solidworks preferred)
• Familiarity with with ASME Y14.5
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and mechanical components (wrenches, screws, etc)
• Experience with Electronics & electrical circuits
• Sheet Metal Design Experience
• Robotics Design and Assembly Experience
