The Electrical Engineering Team Manager will lead a team of Electrical Design Engineers and Analysts to support various projects within the Wisk organization.  Team members will be involved in conceptual designs, trade studies, prototyping, requirements development, formal reviews, detailed design, manufacturing and quality support, and testing. The team consists of Electrical Wire Harness Engineers, FPGA Firmware Engineers, Digital Design Electrical Engineers, EMI/EMC Engineers, and Power Electronics Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Building a high performing engineering team of Electrical designers and analysts.
  • Developing and maintaining the technical standards for engineering definition and design/analysis practices, including schematic and layout standards, analysis methods, documentation templates, and expectations for formal design reviews.
  • Providing technical mentorship and appropriate training to build team proficiency
  • Working with Project Leads and Program Management to properly support programs with team resources
  • Selecting and maintaining engineering tools appropriate for supported programs.
  • Providing People Management services to team members - including performance reviews, career development support, routine one-on-one meetings, and feedback opportunities
  • Planning team resource needs, hiring, recruiting efforts, and technical interviews
  • Maintaining a cohesive team across projects by holding routine group meetings to communicate information from the organization, lessons learned, and other improvement opportunities

Required

  • 15+ years of experience in an aspect of Aircraft Electrical Systems development
  • 5+ years in an engineering leadership role
  • BS+ in relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, etc)
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals (circuit analysis, filter design, EMI emissions and susceptibility, worst case analysis, failure criteria, thermal considerations, etc) including hand calculation methods
  • Experience with the manufacturing methods and materials typical of high performance Aircraft Electrical Systems (including PCB fabrication and part assembly) 
  • Experience working with formal requirements and planning verification activities
  • Experience using electrical test methods (from component testing to PCB circuit to system testing to full vehicle integration testing) to validate analysis models and to verify compliance with requirements

Desired

  • Knowledge of FAA certification processes and the design of vehicle systems to formal requirements such as Part 23, 25, 27, or similar
  • Experience supporting production, including quality, with design updates to improve manufacturability and non-conformance dispositions and justifications.
  • Experience with product sustainability support (field dispositions)
  • Detailed experience with Altium, Nexus, Teamcenter, and Polarian.
  • Proficiency with commercial schematic and layout software (e.g. Altium, OrCAD, etc.)
  • Experience with implementing Design for Manufacturing practices (including IPC Class 3)
