The Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced candidate to join the Sixth Street team in our newly-created legal operations and analytics function (“Legal Ops”). The function will be part of Sixth Street’s global Vendor Management Team and will have responsibility to partner with legal professionals, firm and fund accounting teams, and the broader vendor management team to design, implement, and operate controls and processes that can drive strategic decisions on Sixth Streets legal spend. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial Support: Assist with finance, expense allocation, law firm billing management, and general administration.
  • Invoice Review: Conduct initial invoice reviews to validate billing codes, financial attributes, and compliance with established guidelines.
  • LEDES File Support: Aid large-volume legal providers in preparing and processing monthly and quarterly LEDES files.
  • Billing Inquiry Management: Manage the legal billing inquiry inbox, ensuring prompt and effective responses to queries.
  • Vendor Onboarding: Oversee the onboarding of new legal vendors, ensuring receipt of all necessary documentation.
  • Billing Application Administration: Manage the legal billing application, including vendor profile creation, assignment, invoice review routes, and AP integration.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with outside counsel billing professionals.
  • Collaboration: Work with legal vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing billing and financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline billing processes and implement best practices. Participate in projects to enhance operational efficiency.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience as a Billing Analyst, preferably within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of billing procedures, financial analysis, and accounting principles
  • Strong academic background and undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with Simple Legal, or similar technology preferred
  • Ability to problem solve, anticipate needs, and prioritize.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Self-starter who requires little direction
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Structured problem solver who can synthesize sophisticated information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills.
  • Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
