Key Accountabilities
· Waste Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of waste materials across multiple facilities, ensuring accurate tracking, labeling, and storage of materials.
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all waste movements and shipments comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including EPA (RCRA), DOT, and OSHA standards.
· Operational Management: Overseeing daily waste collection, processing, and disposal operations, including managing contracts with waste service providers.
· Movement Coordination: Manage and coordinate the safe and timely movement of waste between various facilities. Track shipment timelines and ensure all shipments meet regulatory deadlines.
· Documentation & Reporting: Manage and issue all necessary documentation for outbound shipments, including Bills of Lading, manifests, and workorders, while maintaining computerized records of materials. Additionally, generate and submit timely monthly and annual reports for clients or regulatory entities, oversee AFS Dockets, and support invoice stewardship programs to ensure compliance and accurate waste processing.
· Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party waste management vendors to ensure proper handling, treatment, and disposal of waste materials, and manage any related invoicing and reporting.
· Logistics & Scheduling: Plan and coordinate logistics for waste pickups and deliveries, ensuring that all shipments are processed efficiently, safely, and on time.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. Certification in hazardous waste management is a plus.
· Experience: At least 5 years of experience in waste management, logistics, or environmental compliance, with a focus on tracking and movement of waste materials.
Knowledge:
· Deep understanding of federal and state hazardous waste regulations (EPA, DOT, RCRA, etc.).
o Federal regulations (RCRA regulations title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
· Experience with waste transportation logistics, manifesting, and compliance reporting.
· Familiarity with waste management documentation, including bills of lading, manifests, purchase orders, and workorders.
Skills:
· Strong understanding of waste management principles, recycling technologies, and environmental regulations.
· Proven project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor waste reduction initiatives.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and educate the community.
· Analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends for informed decision-making.
· Leadership abilities to motivate and manage a team towards achieving waste reduction goals.
· High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
