You can read more about us in <a href="https://pacificfusion.com/updates/founders-letter">this letter from our founders</a>. <h1>About the Role</h1><h2>Job Overview:</h2>Pacific Fusion is seeking an exceptional Timing Systems Lead to join our dynamic team and lead the integrated timing and fiducial system for our demonstration fusion system. You will collaborate with engineers and scientists towards our demonstration of ignition and high-gain targets for fusion energy applications.Responsibilities:The main responsibility of the Timing System Lead is to design, test, and implement an integrated timing system to synchronize multiple pulsed-power modules and various advanced diagnostic systems across the facility. Strong candidates will have the following core responsibilities: <ul style=""><li>Develop designs for the large-scale integrated timing system and fiducial using custom or vendor provided instrumentation and control solutions.</li><li>Prepare system design descriptions, and present designs to management.</li><li>Develop user interface specifications and designs for both hardware and software.</li><li>Perform installation and commissioning to bring designed systems into operation, including generation and execution of formal functional test procedures.</li><li>Document all designs and maintain system configuration control.</li><li>Participate in formal and informal design reviews.</li><li>Maintain a close interface with the diagnostic and pulser engineering and science teams</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul style=""><li>B.S. degree in electrical engineering or a relevant field, or other relevant experience speaking to the competencies above.</li><li>Experience in distributed timing control systems.</li><li>Experience in the design and implementation of real-time complex instrumentation operating in the time domain.</li><li>Experience in specifying and designing event drive and real-time instrumentation operating in the time domain, including electrical and optical transducer interfacing, noise suppression, and grounding and shielding techniques.</li><li>Experience with various high speed test equipment including high bandwidth oscilloscopes (6-10 GHz), optical and time domain reflectometers.</li><li>Experience with real-time pulse processing techniques including analog and digital recording techniques, diagnostic synchronization</li><li>Demonstrated testing skills, including analog and digital signals and the associated test hardware.</li><li>Excellent communication skills</li><li>Ability to work cross functionally across a wide array of teams</li></ul><h2>Nice to Have:</h2><ul style=""><li>Experience using Google Workspace, which we use for communication and collaboration</li></ul><h2>Benefits:</h2><ul style=""><li>Industry-competitive salary</li><li>Equity plan</li><li>6% employer 401k matching</li><li>Generous paid time off (including sick leave, vacation, paid family leave)</li><li>Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance</li></ul>Actual base salary offered will be determined by: experience, skills, and work location.
