Job Brief

The Senior Mechanical Modeling Engineer will be responsible for developing thermal, structural, and fluid flow models of Twelve’s electrochemical hardware to guide our design process.  This position will require close interaction with the Hardware Engineering team and other cross functional team members to develop and demonstrate CO2 electrolysis hardware. The ideal candidate must be able to create and maintain finite-element and fluid dynamics models, communicate modeling results, and modify models based on feedback from trade studies, experiments, and product development groups.

What you will do

• Develop thermal, structural, and fluid flow models of Twelve’s electrochemical hardware
• Modeling and verification of strain of various materials under compression at projected process conditions
• Analyze and optimize architecture to meet target design criteria
• Communicate results of models with Hardware Engineering team
• Participate in design reviews with cross functional team members

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical modeling and analysis
• Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) and simulation software (ANSYS, COMSOL) required
• Strong knowledge of thermo-mechanical design principles, mechanical materials, fluid dynamics, and thermal properties.
• 2+ years of experience in electrochemical stack design and modeling
• Strong problems solving skills through model development and data analysis
• Other standard communication related requirements, etc.
