By delivering everyday flight for everyone, we're making it possible to spend less time getting there and more time being there. If you want to be part of shaping the future of mobility, then read on!
The Human Factors team is focused on applying human factors concepts into the design of state-of-the-art ground control stations that will allow for safe and efficient supervision of the Cora air taxis from the ground. This is a team of creative trailblazers that will play a critical role in turning the dream of commercial autonomous flights into reality.
As a HCI/HMI engineer you will work closely with UX/UI and systems engineers to develop interfaces for Wisk’s operators. We are looking for someone who is familiar with displays used for aviation applications and someone who can speak to both users and system engineering needs. We are also looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual, who can learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of operators’ displays and control hardware in collaboration with UX/UI, product, pilots, systems engineers and software engineers.
  • Participate in hardware and Software discussions and reviews, and evaluate human capabilities and impacts of the system environment on the pilots.
  • Apply human factors principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of the interfaces.
  • Plan, execute and analyze tests, and communicate recommended changes in an iterative fashion across teams.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field.
  • Deep understanding of principles of display design.
  • Experience designing and certifying flight guidance system interfaces compliant with FARs 25.1301, 25.1309 and 25.1329
  • Working knowledge of recent display design publications in the aviation industry (FAA, NASA, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of FAA Aircraft Certification Service Human Factors Regulations, Policies and Guidance.
  • Experience working with common design tools.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to present data and explain results to leadership and peers.

Desired

  • Graduate degree or PhD in software engineering or human factors engineering.
  • Experience developing certification, test and analysis plans, conducting testing, analyzing data and writing reports demonstrating compliance with Crew Workload and Minimum Flight Crew Regulations - 23.1523 and 25.1523.
