About Rondo Energy

At Rondo, we help the world’s most difficult-to-decarbonize industries rapidly lower their energy costs and carbon emissions.

Our low-cost, drop-in heat battery replaces fossil-fired boilers at industrial facilities, enabling companies to deeply decarbonize without making costly changes to their factories. Utilizing century-old refractory brick material and cutting-edge automation, Rondo Heat Batteries (RHBs) turn intermittent renewable electricity into continuous, high-temperature heat and power. With proven success in the field and modular models, we reduce cost and emissions across various industries, from food and textiles to steel and cement.

Why is this important? Industry accounts for 25% of carbon pollution, with 74% tied to heat. Our technology can cut 6 gigatons of global CO₂, equal to emissions from 1.5 billion cars. With a $3+ trillion market potential, we’re driving new demand for renewables, improving energy security, and accelerating rapid carbon reduction within the world’s most hard-to-abate sectors.

We are looking for a highly experienced Mechanical Design Integration Engineer (this is NOT a software-focused role) who is passionate about both the integration of hardware and mechanical design and wants to significantly contribute to the decarbonization of industry. In this highly collaborative and technical role, you will lead the design integration for Rondo heat batteries globally, ensuring excellent 3D CAD data development and integration for all sub-systems throughout the design process.

Join our team and together we can reduce world CO₂ emissions by 1% in 10 years, and by 15% in 15 years!

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):

  • Lead sub-system and system-level mechanical integration and requirements validation across both internal and external teams.
  • Ensure CAD excellence in integrating multiple subsystems and proactively manage large complex 3D models, surfacing any performance or build issues.
  • Facilitate and lead design discussions between internal teams and external partners, providing high quality feedback to design owners.
  • Use your knowledge of heat transfer and mechanics to spot potential design issues and be an impactful participant in design reviews.
  • Lead and/or contribute to FMEA activities.
  • Own integration checklists that ensure design requirements are met, incorporate best practices and ongoing learning, and ensure high quality design release content.
  • Support the creation of accurate bills of materials and document packages.
  • Communicate effectively and often with both leaders and engineering teams.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+/- years in Engineering with basic field construction experience
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and Revit, Navisworks, or AutoCAD
  • Experience as point of contact interfacing with suppliers and outside resources.
  • Experience working on highly integrated infrastructure projects.
  • Flexibility, openness, and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to bring many different groups together in addition to being a hands-on individual contributor.
  • A growth and mentoring mindset, and in time, the ability to manage a small group of engineers and designers.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in designing / integrating assemblies containing high-temperature materials (metals, refractory, insulation materials).
  • Experience with construction and/or seismic design and/or with large industrial equipment.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive Medical Benefits: options for 100% of premiums covered for employee and immediate family
  • Dental Benefits with options for 75% of premiums covered
  • Vision Benefits with options for 75% of premiums covered
