Job Description:
At Mara, through our subsidiary Humanativ Ltd, we seek to support agriculture by adding value to food via animal feed, thereby improving the nutritional content of the food we eat. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our customers to produce eggs and meat bio-enriched with Omega-3 DHA, achieved by the inclusion of algal Omega-3 DHA in the animal diet.
We are seeking a highly motivated Applications Specialist, Animal Nutrition to join our customer-centric team and play a key role in the development and integration of Omega-3 DHA into eggs and meat via the animal diet. The Applications Specialist, Animal Nutrition is a lead scientist serving as the primary point of contact for technical support and guidance for customers and clients on applications related to bio-enrichment of eggs and meat with Omega 3 DHA. The successful candidate is a strong leader and communicator who will work on customer solutions that bring in value to Mara. They will be responsible for advising on, and developing, Nutrition Programs using algal Omega-3 DHA for differing species and regions, providing technical support to internal teams and customers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with both business development/sales teams and their customers to understand their needs, preferences, and challenges related to Omega-3 DHA enriched eggs and meat and provide customized solutions
- Ensure customers are provided with needed technical support and guidance on Nutrition Programs using algal Omega-3 DHA for differing species and regions, for enrichment of eggs and meat with Omega-3 DHA to target levels
- Translation of scientific publications into practical Nutrition Programs to produce Omega-3 DHA bio-enriched eggs and meat
- Knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, and protocol development to support customers with validating the Omega-3 DHA Nutrition Programs they use
- In partnership with regulatory affairs, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for Omega-3-enriched consumer products, including labeling, claims, and safety considerations
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure initiatives consider and align with overall organizational goals and meet customer requests and requirements
- Deliver technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions to customers, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to maximize the value of our products and services
- Show a commitment to continuous learning by staying informed about industry advancements and engaging in relevant professional development
- Independently maintain detailed records, document deviations, prepare comprehensive reports, and contribute to the development of SOPs
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners that can assist in expediting customer focused projects
- Undertake other duties as necessary to support the team and projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Nutrition or equivalent. Advanced degree in relevant field of study preferred (or equivalent combination of training and experience)
- Understanding of principles related to animal feed intake and animal performance
- Understanding of the Animal Feed Industry
- Understanding of relevant laboratory analysis
- Track record of providing technical support to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to troubleshoot customer issues
- Understanding of the retail marketing of agricultural food products
- Understanding of and experience in experimental design and data analysis
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Capable of independent work and reliable task execution within project guidelines
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Commitment to continuous learning, staying abreast of advancements in the field
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications
- Must have clean driving license
- Ability to travel internationally (job will entail approx. 25% international travel)
