Job Title: Business Development & Communications InternDepartment: DevelopmentReports to: Director, GISEffective Date: May 2025Location: Houston, TX | Albany, NY | or RemoteTravel: 10%
POSITION PURPOSE:  
This is a paid temporary, non-exempt position that will be reporting to the Director of GIS. The Business Development and Communications Intern will support process improvements, strategic initiatives, and professional communications. This role involves workflow optimization, data analysis, and creating high-quality reports and templates for internal and external stakeholders. The intern will work cross-functionally with Development and Senior Manager of Public Affairs to improve efficiency and enhance visual communications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in business process optimization and workflow improvements.
  • Develop presentation decks, reports, and templates for executive and stakeholder communication.
  • Conduct data analysis and research to support business development initiatives.
  • Support competitor research and identification and tracking of industry conferences.
  • Standardize and improve internal and external communication materials.
  • All other duties as required.

WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business, Communications, Marketing, Energy, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating polished, executive-level documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite a plus).
  • Analytical mindset with experience in business analysis, project coordination, or process improvement.
  • Ability to translate data and insights into compelling visual presentations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Interest in the renewable energy and energy storage sector is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work in a small team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer.
