Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
Quality Technician
The Incoming Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of incoming materials through inspections, non-conformance resolution, containment management, overseeing non-conforming material review process, maintaining accurate quality records, and auditing. The technician will report to supplier quality engineering and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Engineering, Business Development, etc.) to ensure adherence to quality standards, drive process improvements, and contribute to supplier quality management.
Responsibilities will include:
- Non-Conformance Review & Action Management:
- Review all incoming material non-conformances reported at incoming inspection and at production daily.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate root causes, run containment, facilitate material disposition, and timely resolution of non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate documentation of non-conformance findings and related actions.
- Containment Management (Sorting, Sampling, Testing, etc.)
- Lead and execute containments on non-conforming/ suspect incoming materials.
- Ensure that all contained materials are properly segregated, tracked, and dispositioned to prevent non-conformances from reaching production.
- Document containment findings, including quantities sorted, pass/ fail rates, cost incurred, and other key data and present reports to Supplier quality team/ management.
- Material Review Board (MRB) & Quality Hold Area Management:
- Manage the MRB process and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely review and disposition of non-conforming/ suspect incoming materials in the quality hold area.
- Monitor MRB trends and provide data-driven insights to improve supplier performance and reduce recurring non-conformances.
- Maintain quality hold area ensuring proper 5S implementation and organization.
- Audit & Oversight of Incoming Inspections:
- Conduct audits of incoming material inspections to verify compliance with specifications and quality control procedures (e.g. Incoming Control Plan).
- Identify gaps and lead implementation of corrective measures.
- Update incorrect or missing data entries in the quality system to ensure data integrity.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in quality assurance, incoming inspection, and auditing in a manufacturing environment, preferably in battery manufacturing/ recycling, or chemical processing.
- Hands-on experience with sorting and sampling of battery materials or chemicals in a safe and quality-controlled setting.
- Knowledge of 8D Problem Solving, Material Review Board (MRB), non-conformance and containment management, and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical data, and contracts.
- Proficiency in systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), QMS (Quality Management System), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), WMS (Warehouse Management System), etc.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for working cross-functionally.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
