SR Chemical Engineer / Electrochemist

About the role

We are looking for a SR Chemical Engineer / Electrochemist. You’ll be responsible for the development of a novel electrochemical system that produces ocean alkalinity, capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide and mitigating ocean acidification. The ideal candidate will bring superb technical, research, and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get quality work done quickly.

What You’ll Do

• Work with Engineering team to develop an electrochemical plant 
• Explore modular scalable process solutions for economic scale up
• Design, build, and test prototype systems for characterization and optimization
• Apply industry experience to ensure economic and efficient component selection
• Parameterize and specify system processes 
• Work with vendors to source subsystems and components
• Navigate the need for customization

What You'll Need

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or similar
• 5-10 years industry experience in water systems, chemical processing, or electrochemistry 
• Hands on field experience with the engineering, procurement, and operation of chemical systems
• Entrepreneurial and creative thinking, with a balance of quantitative understanding of first principles and creative solution space
• Ability to manage external vendors, fabricators, and chemical solution providers
• Effective communicator and presenter
• A sense of humor

Bonus

• Master’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or similar
• Design and construction of pilot plants
• Likes working with tools and has hands on experience with fabrication, instrumentation, and assembly of systems
• Experience with modeling software e.g. Aspen
• Startup experience ideal, startup mentality a must; someone who is scrappy and gets things done
