Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Manager to be based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Water/Wastewater Project Manager will support and lead projects for water and wastewater clients primarily in the Albuquerque area, but to also include national projects. The qualified candidate should have in-depth experience in the analysis and design of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, pump stations, hydraulic structures, and water/wastewater treatment facilities, as well as experience in project management and client relationships. This role offers an exciting opportunity to focus on client business growth, project delivery, leadership, and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater engineering expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM’s New Mexico area business. The appropriately qualified applicant will have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water and wastewater design projects.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
- Working with senior members of our Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities.
- Managing projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing and final closeout.
- Planning, scheduling, conducting/coordinating detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.
- Providing technical direction to and mentoring junior staff.
- Technical resource; may serve as technical advisor for the team.
- Communicates project tasks between offices – high level of coordination and communication skills required.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
- Supports proposals and develops of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
- Overseeing the planning and design of various project elements, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables.
- Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.
- Oversees construction phase engineering services.
- Approves and signs off on work.
- May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.
