Job Description

Product Manager, Voyage Optimization

About Nautilus.

Nautilus Labs is advancing the efficiency of ocean commerce through artificial intelligence. With hubs in New York, Paris, and Singapore, the firm is trusted by clients across the globe to help make better, real-time decisions that ultimately unlock transformative outcomes—at sea and on shore. By partnering with Nautilus, ocean shipping leaders can maximize returns for every vessel and voyage while driving cross-team collaboration, greater transparency, and stronger accountability for their companies, shareholders, and the planet we all share.

Ocean shipping consumes over $100 billion dollars of fuel every year, and up to 30% of it can be saved. For owner-operators, reliance on manually collected and analyzed data makes it difficult to optimize fleet performance in real-time. By providing a unified data platform that leverages machine learning, Nautilus helps its clients make better decisions to maximize the return on each ship and every voyage. For our clients, this means they drive closer collaboration, greater transparency, and stronger accountability across their global teams every day.

Nautilus Labs is looking for an experienced product manager who is motivated by our mission. As a product manager for our Voyage Optimization product suite, you will have immediate business impact and work on problems that matter - not only for the organization, but for all of global trade. You will build products that help to optimize maritime voyages for fuel consumption, profit, and greenhouse gas emissions. You can expect to contribute to product and company strategy from day one, even while you onboard. Those contributions will help Nautilus expand into new markets and capitalize on our increasingly exciting opportunity.

About You.

  • You can operate autonomously, but recognize that the best ideas are refined through collaboration.
  • You are excited about being a thought-partner to our company and customers, refining ideas, providing perspective, and using data to curate potential opportunities.
  • You balance diligence with speed. You deeply value getting products right, but also understand the importance of getting them out the door. You are comfortable not having all of the answers, but will structure clear plans to discover the answers when important.
  • You embrace complexity and ambiguity. You think in systems and love to untangle complex problems, breaking them down into prioritized, easily understood pieces for other teams.
  • You have empathy and compassion for clients and users. You pride yourself on deeply understanding the problems, needs, and limitations of customers, and you  operate benevolently, seeking to teach what you have learned so your cross-functional partners can build from a customer-first perspective.
  • You are data-driven and analytically minded. You have 2-3 years of hands-on product management experience working directly with engineers, data scientists, and product designers.

Outcomes For The Role.

  • Own product decisions in your domain and contribute to product strategy
  • Break down work, write user stories and manage a product backlog
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and designers to create an outcome-driven product roadmap
  • Articulate and test product hypotheses
  • Define and track measurable success criteria for your products
  • Conduct user interviews and lead user testing sessions
  • Enable and evangelize agile product practices across the technical organization

Bonus.

  • Early-stage, high-growth startup experience
  • Experience managing machine learning products
  • Experience in B2B enterprise SaaS
  • A technical or quantitative degree
