Principal or Sr. Staff, Simulation Architect, Vehicle Simulation Platform

Team Charter: NIO is a global company with R&D offices in China, North America, Germany, and UK. NIO is the leader of intelligent Electronic Vehicle (EV) industry in China, which is the largest, fastest growing EV market in the world, and is also rapidly expanding its business worldwide.  Digital Systems department at NIO is responsible for building highly reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure and platforms for intelligent and fully autonomous driving vehicles, and its scope ranges from vehicle operating system software platform, central computer and SOA-based digital architecture, automation simulation test platforms, cyber security, vehicle cloud & connectivity. Digital Engineering Integration team in the Digital Systems department, is responsible for developing solutions, platforms & tools to achieve highly efficient vehicle software integration & validation, and conducting various levels of tests to ensure software quality in regular OTA updates to hundreds of thousands of users.  We are looking for a simulation expert in NIO North America R&D Center to help us build a full-fledged vehicle simulation platform to validate function designs and perform integration tests much earlier and more efficiently.   

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture design of vehicle simulation platform with both software-in the-loop and hardware-in the-loop capabilities to achieve highly efficient integration and tests of various on-car software, such as autonomous driving, digital cockpit, vehicle motion, body, and connectivity.
• Design standardized simulation interfaces for easy integration with software and hardware components
• Modularize vehicle functions & dynamics into models and libraries to realistically simulate the vehicle behavior
• Design solutions to scale out the simulation platform by leveraging unlimited cloud computing resources and achieve highly efficient CI/CD
• Follow industry trend and evolvement of simulation technologies, such as discrete event simulation, modeling based simulation, etc.
• Provide guidance to development team and mentor junior engineers, and lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues
• Collaborate closely with stakeholder teams and support cross-functional initiatives

Qualifications

• Master's degree or above in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or similar fields, 7+ years of experience in simulation related fields
• Working experience of developing simulation tools or platforms for large-scale and complex distributed systems
• Knowledgeable in discrete event simulation and Simulink based simulation.
• Familiar with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
• Strong programming and hands-on skills
• Proven ability of converting technical innovation to real-world products
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain complex technical details in simple language
• Good at cross-team collaboration and driving cross-functional initiatives 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience of developing simulation tools or products for aerospace or automobile industry
• Working experience with and SIL (Software in the Loop) or HIL (Hardware in the Loop) simulation
• Experience working with oversea teams
