Job Title: Sr. Manager- NPI Engineering Sourcing

Job Overview:

As the Director of Sr. Manager- NPI Engineering Sourcing at Nextracker, you will play a critical role in driving the sourcing strategy and execution for new Electrical and Power conversion product introductions. You will manage procurement activities related to new product BOMs and first factory setup, ensuring alignment with business objectives and critical timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing Strategy Development: Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for new product initiatives, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions. Own and maintain up to date CBOM at all times of development.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and sourcing teams to align sourcing activities with product launch schedules, driving successful new product introductions.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide consistent project updates to senior management and other stakeholders regarding sourcing strategies, project progress, and any necessary adjustments.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with new product sourcing in collaboration with sourcing managers, and develop robust mitigation strategies to address these risks.
  • Project Scheduling Coordination: Develop detailed project schedules for procurement milestones that align with overall program schedules and cost targets, ensuring that project teams work in conjunction with category strategies.
  • Procurement Activity Oversight: Manage quotes, purchase orders, deliveries, and all procurement activities to support project needs effectively.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor project progress, make timely adjustments as needed, and measure performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Milestone Monitoring: Monitor key milestones, ensuring adherence to identified timelines and deliverables for key objectives within assigned programs.
  • Coordination with Contract Manufacturers: Coordinate the delivery with contract manufacturers (CMs) of products through the NX NPI process to ensure on-time “turn” for material procurement, product assembly, product testing, field testing, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or supplier management within solar, renewable energy, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing, supplier development, and cost negotiation.

Technical & Industry Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of global supply chain dynamics, supplier qualification, and commodity management.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical components, raw materials, and contract manufacturing in the solar, energy, or hardware sectors.
  • Knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) processes and familiarity with manufacturing techniques like stamping, casting, and welding.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills to drive cost savings and ensure supply chain reliability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and procurement tools.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Asian, European, and North American suppliers.
  • Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and compliance in the renewable energy sector.
  • Prior leadership experience in a hardware technology company, solar tracker, or related industry.
