In this role, you will define and specify interfaces between low-power embedded devices and cloud resources, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. You will also play a critical role in managing contractors, ensuring project timelines, quality, and technical alignment.This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and drive system-level decisions in a fast-paced, innovative environment.<h3>Outcomes in the first 3 months</h3><ul> <li>You'll have picked up the design and test on an active, high priority program (&lt; month 1).</li> <li>You'll be supporting early stage OTS (off-the-shelf) and JDM (joint-development-model) programs. (~ month 2).</li> </ul>We are looking for sharp, intrinsically motivated people to join us on our mission to build the future more efficiently, safely, and sustainably.Responsibilities<ul> <li>Define and specify interfaces and communication protocols between low-power embedded devices and converged platforms.</li> <li>Design and review firmware architectures, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.</li> <li>Collaborate with hardware, software, and cloud teams to ensure seamless system integration.</li> <li>Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, interface definitions, and design guidelines.</li> <li>Evaluate, select, and manage contractors for hardware development.</li> <li>Ensure contractor deliverables meet quality, schedule, and performance requirements.</li> <li>Lead technical reviews, troubleshoot complex system issues, and drive resolution across teams.</li> <li>Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in embedded systems and firmware development.</li> </ul>Requirements<ul> <li>5+ years of experience in firmware development and embedded systems engineering.</li> <li>Strong system-level thinking and ability to bridge hardware, firmware, and software components.</li> <li>Experience working with wireless and IoT technologies.</li> <li>Previous experience specifying and managing contractor deliverables.</li> </ul>Nice to Haves:<ul> <li>Experience with ARM embedded systems and higher-level software stacks.</li> <li>Familiarity with LoraWan and BLE.</li> <li>Familiarity with battery-powered devices.</li> <li>Knowledge of security best practices in embedded systems.</li> <li>Experience with agile development methodologies.</li> <li>Compliance and type approvals for a Global market (CE, UKCA, FCC, IC, etc).</li> </ul>Benefits<ul> <li>Competitive salary of up to £65k.</li> <li>Collaborative, dynamic and hybrid work environment with a minimum of 3 days a week working with the wider Hardware team at Converge HQ in London Blackfriars.</li> <li>25 days + Bank Holidays.
