Smart Wires is currently looking for a Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller to bolster our cost and financial accounting process, and systems.
The Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller will report to the Controller of Smart Wires. Qualified candidates will have an eye for detail, enjoy implementing lean processes, be extraordinarily organized, and thrive when working as part of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team. The role title is dependent on experience and skills. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in the RTP/Durham Office.
Primary Responsibilities
· Month End Process: Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close and reporting process, financial statement preparation, journal entries, and analysis of activities
· Monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations: Implementation and maintenance of standard account reconciliations to ensure the fidelity of our results. Role will cover the full suite of accounts including Sales & CoGS, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, AR/AP, etc.
· Ledger management: Responsible for first-line entry of multi-currency journal entries across all key accounts, including intercompany processes.
· Audit support: Key point of contact for audit filings as directed by the Controller.
· Revenue Recognition: Assist Controller with evaluation of customer contracts and technical guidance on revenue recognition related to current ASC standards
· Cash: Reconcile monthly cash activities, including bank statements, AP payments, bank guarantees and resolve any variances. Prepare weekly Cash Flow Forecast and assist FP&A with Cash variance analysis
· Management Reporting Support: Limited FP&A activities including development of budgets and related variance reporting for specific OPEX budgets. Support Income Statement bridge analysis and Balance Sheet comparisons
· Other tasks as assigned by the Controller, including team backup coverage as needed
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
· Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
· CPA Preferred
· Minimum 5 years of Financial Accounting experience, preferably with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
· Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
· Ability to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities
· Experience with process improvements to drive efficiency, preferably with system implementations
· Ability to work with remote teams
· Ability to travel up to 10% within the U.S.
Desired Skills and Experience
· Experience with NetSuite ERP/MRP
· Controls or Lean experience
