Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a Manager, Subcontracts (Manager, Commercial Contracting), to join our team! The Manager, Subcontracts, is responsible for leading commercial subcontractor and vendor negotiations and administration of subcontracts. The candidate must be attentive to detail, a problem-solver, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple assignments.

The Manager, Subcontracts reports directly to the Sr. Director, Commercial Contracting.

What You'll Do: 

  • Lead commercial subcontractor and vendor negotiations and administration of subcontracts. 
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate contract commercial risks concerning price, cost, schedule, cash flow, profitability, security package, liquidated damages, and performance guarantees. 
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, sales, and legal to help align the interests of BRP with customer-owners to enable successful project execution. 
  • Foster long-term mutually beneficial relationships with customers. 
  • Direct and manage contract review by internal subject matter experts. 
  • Review commercial documents for the sales and bidding process. 
  • Advise and present information and recommendations to the executive team. 
  • Proactively manage risk across the construction portfolio, guiding construction teams in risk mitigation techniques and solving dynamic issues in real time. 
  • Assist with managing, training, and nurturing a growing team of commercial professionals. 

Must-Haves: 

  • 7+ years of EPC/Subcontracts experience in the energy or construction industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy. 
  • Substantial transactional experience at an energy or construction company. 
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to dispassionately mitigate risk. 
  • A positive attitude that embraces BRP鈥檚 core values of Collaboration, Ownership, Grit, and Creativity.  

Education and Certifications:  

  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree or equivalent experience required. 

Working Environment and Physical Demands: 

  • This position can be remote, preferably within a comfortable traveling distance to one of our BRP office locations in Asheville or Fayetteville, NC.  
  • The position works in an office environment. 
  • Travel to our BRP offices up to 10-15% when needed.  
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods. 
  • May require lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds.
