Main purpose of positionWe are looking for an Operations & Maintenance Project Developer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
As our O&M Project Developer you will:
- Support the O&M Project Development department to ensure accurate O&M commercial and legal inputs are delivered on time and with high quality for projects in the development and structuring phases across all technologies (PV, wind, BESS, P2X) and across geographies.
- Conduct financial and operational analyses related to O&M of operating assets to assist with improving the profitability of assets in operation, backlog and pipeline
- Perform new market analysis, supplier identification and costing for key O&M cost elements
- Assist with coordination between the O&M functions during development phases to enhance efficiency and collaboration
Main responsibilities
- Perform commercial analyses of O&M-related costs from the operating portfolio to ensure that O&M budgets are competitive and consistent with specific technical solutions,
- Run levelized cost of energy (LCOE) models to ensure plant designs are optimized together with the EPC and Engineering teams
- Assist with O&M input to Business Development , including liaising/coordination with all relevant functions within O&M,
- Ensure consistency between O&M budget, EPC budget and SPV budgets in the Financial Models,
- Support with establishing the O&M strategy and O&M business case for new projects in alignment
- Conduct competitor/market analysis and cost benchmarks related to the O&M segment, together with Supply Chain and the local Business Development organization,
- Develop O&M pricing databases and road maps, and conduct profitability assessments relevant to the O&M business,
- Develop and lead project-specific requests for proposals on critical scope of works relating to the Operations and Maintenance phase of the project.
- Support on contract reviews (Main agreements and Supply Agreements) based on historical lessons learnt, ongoing learnings and the business agenda
Qualifications and competencies
- Engineering/Technical, Financial, Business, or Legal university level degree
- 3-5 years relevant professional experience, preferably within the Renewables industry
- Experience with contract management and tendering is preferred but not essential
- Fluent both written and spoken in English
- Experience with financial analyses and working with business cases
- Experience in data analysis, preferably in an operations or business context
- Hands-on and self-reliant, someone who takes “ownership” to tasks and see them done, flexible and adaptable with a “can-do” attitude
- Assertive with strong organizational skills, able to operate in dynamic, multi-cultural, multi-location working environment, a team player able to work under pressure
- Driven and focused to meet tight deadlines without exception
- Strong commercial mindset
- Excellent report writing skills
