Remora is hiring a Director of Controls and Electronics who will build and manage teams responsible for every aspect of the controls systems and electronic components in the Remora device. As a member of the executive team, the Director of Controls and Electronics will work closely with the co-CEOs to lead the company and set our strategic direction, all while helping to tackle the defining challenge of our time.
Oversee teams focusing on Software Development and Electronics Hardware:
Onboard controls logic and communication (Simulink and C based code)
Offboard over the air tracking, communication, and data management
Designing wiring harnesses
Managing component selection
Also be responsible for overseeing:
Budget and timeline goals
Allocation of team resources and tasks to accomplish projects in a timely manner
Integration of new R&D product improvements into existing hardware or systems
Safety protocol development, implementation, and enforcement
Software and equipment purchases, maintenance, work layouts, and training
Other responsibilities:
Hiring staff
Conducting performance reviews
Working closely with other Directors
Providing feedback to the R&D team on opportunities for improvement so they can spend their time and resources effectively
Setting key performance indicators for first- and second-generation devices
Requirements:
10+ years of controls or electrical engineering experience OR relevant advanced degree and 8+ years of controls or electrical engineering experience
4+ years of engineering management experience with a team of 10+ people
Extensive knowledge of engineering project management
Accurately performs self evaluation, listens to others and constantly improves oneself
Capable of motivating and organizing people for short term goals, while able to communicate and plan for long-term goals
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Ability to build and manage a large team as the company grows
Creative, outside-the-box thinker with lots of new ideas
