Scope
The Jazan IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) is the world’s largest IGCC Power Plant facility processing vacuum residue to generate syngas. Further processing units include Acid Gas Removal, Soot Ash Recovery, Sulphur Recovery and Hydrogen Purification. The Combined Cycle Power Generation Plant consists of Syngas/ULSD fired Gas Turbines, HRSGs, and Steam Turbines. Extensive Utilities including Water treatment, wastewater treatment and instrument air. The facility is in the Jazan Economic City, in the province of Jazan, KSA.
As a Process Engineer at Jazan IGCC you will support technical Engineering and Operations team to execute Plan performance test and operations optimizations work under the direction of CSU&PT engineering leader.
The performance testing engineer role in the engineering space focuses on ensuring that systems, equipment, or processes meet specified performance standards and function optimally under various conditions. Their primary responsibilities are to evaluate, test, and optimize the performance of engineering systems to ensure they operate efficiently and meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards
Role Responsibilities
Safety
- Provide & maintain a safe work environment for self & others. Employ good housekeeping methods and demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent injuries.
Engineering
- Analyze existing plant processes and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Implement process changes to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and optimize plant operations.
- Design, execute, and analyze plant performance tests to assess the efficiency and reliability of systems and equipment.
- Evaluate performance data to identify optimization opportunities and provide actionable recommendations.
- Collect and analyze process data to monitor plant performance and identify trends or deviations.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing test results, process performance, and optimization recommendations for management and stakeholders.
- Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to restore optimal plant performance.
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams for resolving complex process-related problems.
- Implement process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to drive efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and refine standard operating procedures and ensure process consistency.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure safe and efficient process operations.
- Provide technical advice and training plant personnel on process improvements and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all process activities.
- Participate in risk assessments, process hazard analysis, and safety audits to ensure safe plant operations.
- Lead or participate in process improvement projects aimed at enhancing plant performance and capacity.
- Coordinate with engineering and other departments to ensure timely and effective project execution.
- Monitor and maintain process control systems to ensure stability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure that plant equipment is operating at peak performance.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving equipment failures that affect plant performance.
- Maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, flow diagrams, and operating procedures.
- Ensure proper record-keeping for all process tests, optimizations, and maintenance activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering with minimum of 10 years’ experience in relevant process engineering role.
- Process operational experience within the Utility units - Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination, Water demineralization, MBBR Wastewater Treatment technology, Tankage, Flare and Fuel Gas System
- Strong skills in process flow analysis, P&ID interpretation, and process documentation.
- Experience with process control and automation systems, including advanced process control strategies.
- Strong communication skills, to enable effective interaction with the rest of the engineering, operation, maintenance, and commissioning team.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively throughout all levels within the organization.
- Critical thinking skills and problem-solving capability.
- Experience in the use of PI process book for generating historical data and LIMS for laboratory analytical data.
- Experience in process simulation tools; Aspen HYSIS, ProMax TSweet.
