Job Description

Remora is hiring a Director of Policy, who will lead Remora’s political engagement and funding efforts, all while helping tackle the defining challenge of our time.

Responsibilities

  • Strategizing and managing Remora’s lobbying efforts on key issues including the federal 45Q tax credit for carbon sequestration, California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, and a gross vehicle weight exemption for Remora’s technology
  • Managing Remora’s lobbying firm and policy-focused lawyers
  • Engaging with regulatory stakeholders such as IRS, EPA, DOT, and NHTSA
  • Building and managing relationships with members of Congress, governors, cabinet members, key staffers, federal and state regulators, advocacy groups, unions, and other important political stakeholders
  • Effectively leveraging Remora’s relationships to achieve our political goals
  • Building Remora’s strategy for political engagement outside the United States
  • Identifying local, state, and federal funding opportunities for Remora
  • Engaging with relevant agencies to determine eligibility and shape requests for proposals
  • Writing grants and managing funding application processes

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of policy, regulatory, lobbying, or other government-related experience, particularly experience with science and/or technology policy OR relevant advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of management experience with a team of 10+ people
  • Clear, persuasive, and poised written and verbal communicator
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to build and manage a large team as the company grows
  • Creative, outside-the-box thinker with excellent strategic instincts

Logistics:

  • Location: Remote (PT, MT, CT, or ET)
  • Start date: by March 1, 2022
