Job Description

Remora is hiring a Director of Research and Development who will manage vetting, testing, and optimizing novel adsorption and regeneration processes to improve the performance of the Remora device. As a member of the executive team, the Director of Research and Development will work closely with the co-CEOs to lead the company and set our strategic direction, all while helping to tackle the defining challenge of our time.

Manage adsorption and regeneration testing:

  • Streamline bench-scale evaluation process for new materials
  • Synthesize novel sorbent or solvent coated materials
  • Translate bench practices to full-scale implementation

Optimize adsorption and regeneration processes across a range of adsorbents:

  • Use various modeling and experimental tools to increase mass transfer during adsorption and heat transfer during regeneration
  • Develop and communicate best practices across engineering teams
  • Collaborate with technology teams on chamber design
  • Provide education on material handling and safety outside the lab

Vet sorbents, solvents, and precursors from various manufacturers and vendors:

  • Seek external expertise where appropriate
  • Collaborate with the Director of Supply Chain & Manufacturing

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience OR relevant advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of lab management experience with a team of 10+ people
  • Experience translating bench-scale testing into full-scale real-world implementation
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to build and manage a large team as the company grows
  • Creative, outside-the-box thinker with lots of new ideas

  • Start date: by March 1, 2022
