Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical development of audio-related electrical and acoustic components, including audio amplifiers, speakers, microphones, pedestrian warning systems (AVAS), and horns.
  • Lead end-to-end project management, from system design specifications and mechanical packaging to unit testing, integration, and validation.
  • Engage in vehicle programs from the conceptual design phase through to production, including series maintenance and model upgrades related to audio design.
  • Coordinate cross-functional system release plans, working with product marketing, management, audio software development, infotainment systems, and other teams.
  • Develop and implement effective program management processes, ensuring the successful collaboration of hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.
  • Communicate the status of audio systems and components, including design directions, risks, and mitigation plans, while negotiating trade-offs and scope changes.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, identify potential deviations in product architecture, and make necessary adjustments to address technical changes.
  • Proactively evaluate design decisions, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and scope.
  • Expedite revisions, corrections, and implementation of changes to documentation and deliverables.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships and manage workload prioritization to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership, system engineering, and/or technical program management of audio systems or hardware, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving the development and delivery of audio hardware programs.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies for hardware and software product management.
  • Familiarity with the Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Experience managing audio hardware suppliers, contract manufacturers, and audio hardware/software design consultants.
  • Expertise in developing and managing program management tools and processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with documentation and presentation tools (Word, PowerPoint, Confluence, etc.).
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across functions and work in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while ensuring product roadmap alignment.
  • Ability to inspire confidence in colleagues, engineering teams, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex issues, facilitate decision-making, and coordinate action plans.
  • Strong skills in evaluating and providing constructive feedback on engineering decisions.
  • Willingness to travel both within the U.S. and internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive development processes, including design reviews, change management, and supplier evaluations.
  • Knowledge of audio software development, including verification, integration, and validation processes.
  • Experience influencing audio system designs based on past experiences or education.
  • Familiarity with hardware-related software development (e.g., microcontroller abstraction layers, drivers).
  • Experience with Jama for requirements management.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Knowledge of automotive safety standards.
  • Experience in the design and development of complex electronic control units is highly valued.
