Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for material procurement as per internal requirements and India sourcing projects for the global Hitachi group when needed.

  • Ensuring the purchase of materials with quality, just-in-time delivery, and cost efficiency.

  • Assisting in executing overall procurement operations, including sourcing, contracting, purchasing, and payment processes.

  • Supporting supplier/vendor management and new supplier development.

  • Assisting in material inventory management.

  • This position will later be relocated to a new establishment in Pune, Maharashtra, estimated between 2027-2028 or after the successful formation of the new plant.

Responsibilities:

1. Sourcing

  • Identify and source materials, equipment, and services from approved suppliers while ensuring compliance with required specifications and quality standards.

  • Manage inquiries for new direct and indirect materials as required.

2. Contracting

  • Support price negotiations, incoterms, payment terms, and supplier contracts to optimize cost savings and mitigate risks.

3. Purchasing

  • Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules.

  • Coordinate material delivery as per the required schedule.

  • Basic knowledge of GST, custom clearance, and other taxation requirements to ensure smooth delivery and payment processes in coordination with relevant departments such as planning, production, and finance.

4. Maintenance and improvement of supply chain.

  • Monitor and review the supply status of procurement partners.

  • Assist in resolving cost, quality, and delivery issues and contribute to continuous supply chain improvements.

5. New supplier development

  • Support material localization initiatives by identifying new domestic suppliers for imported materials.

  • Conduct cost analysis, maintain cost-reduction initiatives, and manage supplier comparisons.

  • Work with cross-functional teams (CFT) to ensure timely delivery of localized content for prototype, pilot, and production phases.

  • Ensure quality compliance of localized materials in collaboration with relevant teams.

6. Meeting social requests such as laws, CSR, SDGs from procurement perspective

  • Ensure procurement activities align with laws, CSR commitments, and sustainability (SDGs) by consulting with supervisors.

7. Effective management with PDCA cycle(plan-do-check-action; PDCA)

  • Support the achievement of defined KPIs related to procurement operations.

  • Assist in monitoring, statistical analysis, and process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency.

Experience:

  • 4 + years manufacturing or procurement experience in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment.

  • Participation in and understanding of introductory education in the workplace.

  • Preferably proven track record of managing localization (Air compressors parts preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office tools.

  • Ability to follow defined procurement processes and independently resolve challenges.

  • Effective communication skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and negotiate with suppliers.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).

  • Presentation and networking skills to coordinate with external stakeholders.

  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness with cost-conscious decision-making.

  • Compliance with relevant procurement regulations and company policies.

  • Exposure to working with Japanese companies (preferred).

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
