Role Purpose
We are seeking a Senior Research Analyst to lead and support the development of asset-level revenue forecasts for renewable, conventional, and storage assets across global markets. This role is specifically focused on asset revenue forecasting, requiring expertise in asset valuation and financial modelling. The Senior Research Analyst will oversee research analysts, conduct in-depth market research, analyse historical and current energy data, and provide insights to enhance forecasting accuracy. The role also involves constant collaboration with engineering, product, and data teams to integrate research findings and contribute to the development of the overall product. This position reports to the Programme Lead and plays a key role in driving research excellence.
Main Responsibilities
Lead and oversee research efforts on global power markets, including trends in revenue mechanisms for all generation technologies.
Manage and mentor Research Analysts, providing guidance, feedback, and technical expertise to enhance research quality.
Conduct and oversee in-depth market analysis, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities for asset performance.
Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, market designs, and policy updates that impact energy assets globally.
Provide strategic market assumptions and context to support revenue forecasting models.
Analyse demand, supply, and weather trends to refine market inputs and validate forecast outputs.
Develop structured methodologies for synthesizing market data and integrating it into revenue models.
Prepare high-quality reports, memos, and presentations summarizing research insights for internal and external stakeholders.
Establish and maintain a structured repository of data sources, research findings, and key assumptions.
Track and synthesize industry publications, reports, and news to inform research direction.
Work closely with data analysts to align research findings with datasets used in modelling.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and data teams to ensure research insights are effectively incorporated into the overall product development.
Present research findings to senior leadership, clients, and industry stakeholders, addressing key questions and challenges.
Expectations
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Energy Studies, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in renewable modelling, asset valuation, revenue forecasting, and financial modelling for energy assets.
Significant experience in power markets with a strong understanding of revenue mechanisms.
Deep understanding of renewable energy, storage technologies, and conventional energy trends.
Strong familiarity with electricity and energy markets, including market structures, policy, and regulatory environments.
Experience leading or mentoring research teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex concepts clearly to various stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative mindset, with a demonstrated ability to work across cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is a plus.
Experience with research tools, market reports, and large energy datasets.
