Responsibilities:

• Perform specialized tests on raw material and final products.  Perform non-routine tests, i.e., competitor samples, etc.
• Perform standard calculations as required.  Use routine and specialized calculations to convert raw data into discernible results.  Prepare and maintain logs, records and reports.  Write formal and informal reports as required.  Perform tasks under minimum supervision and direction.
• Communicate results to Quality Manager.
• Responsible for maintaining test equipment.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment. 

• Prepare and test specified samples for physical and chemical evaluation
• Prepare single filaments, weigh them and measure the tensile strength.  Also, to test on fibers in hot water shrinkage.

• Assist in routine test with the QCC’s during trials or changeovers, when needed, to assure test results are reported to the production area in a timely manner
• Perform special testing on request and other duties as directed.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety in the laboratory in accordance with standards.
• Complete test requests by the specified due date instructed by the requestor.

Qualifications:

• An associate degree in Material Science or Engineering Technology from a technical institute is preferred and a 4-year Degree in a technical discipline is highly desired.  At least 1 yr of experience in a Lab Environment.

• Ability to perform product development testing and production quality test methods precisely under the direction of the Quality Lab Manager.
• Ability to work with very small and delicate test samples.
• Ability to use desk calculator and to manipulate figures.
• Ability to communicate test results verbally and in a written matter
