Requirements

The Senior Policy Manager plays a crucial role in investigating, tracking, and shaping the regulatory and legislative landscape that influences the company鈥檚 development pipeline and investment prospects.

This individual will collaborate closely with the Director of Policy and engage across various teams within the company to pinpoint key markets, uncover new opportunities, and conduct comprehensive market analyses that bolster the company鈥檚 commercial initiatives.

To achieve these objectives, the Senior Policy Manager will actively participate in trade organizations, stakeholder meetings, public hearings, and other important forums, contributing valuable insights and written feedback that further the company鈥檚 interests. Success in this position demands exceptional communication abilities and a strategic approach to help drive the company鈥檚 ambitious growth targets.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Crafting market analyses and collaborating across the organization to execute policy driven business development strategies that enhance SAE's solar and storage operations in critical markets.
  • Anticipating and influencing changes in state legislation, regulatory proceedings, utility filings, and market structures, and clearly identifying risks and opportunities that such changes present.
  • Working cross-functionally to strengthen state market structures for renewable energy and storage projects.
  • Take a leading role in influencing the actions of trade organizations, lobbyists, legislators and other decision makers. 

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE

  • 5-7 years of experience in renewable policy, ideally with a focus on solar, storage, or related fields.
  • Proven expertise in legislative and regulatory processes, with a track record of successfully advancing policy initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of interconnection and permitting challenges and strategies for mitigating risk in renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, the project development cycle, and the revenue model for both FTM and BTM solar. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in business development within the solar, storage, or similar industries.
  • Strong organizational, management, interpersonal and executive skills. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and analytical skills.
