Position Summary:


The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC) is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to fill the newly created role of Director of Individual Giving. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, this position will play a pivotal role in developing and leading a comprehensive individual giving program to secure significant financial support for PPC’s mission of restoring and sustaining Pittsburgh’s parks. The Director of Individual Giving will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major gift donors, planned giving prospects, and mid-level contributors, while building and deepening relationships with a diverse network of park supporters.

 

Position Responsibilities:


  • Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans, utilizing a moves management approach to engage individuals, that results in successful fundraising requests across all donor levels. 
  • Comprehensively manage a portfolio of 3,000 active donors.
  • Lead the development of large-scale fundraising initiatives, including an endowment campaign that aligns with the organization's strategic plan and 30th anniversary celebration.
  • Strategize and implement planned and legacy giving initiatives to current planned giving donors and identify, cultivate, and solicit planned giving prospects.
  • Partner with local financial planners and estate attorneys to promote "The Bigelow Society," (those who have already committed to a legacy gift) and other planned giving opportunities.
  • Manage "The Roots Society," the organization's major giving program, and secure annual gifts of $1,996 and above through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Manage a portfolio of 100-150 major gift prospects and current donors.
  • Oversee stewardship of a high-quality donor experience by developing individual relationships, correspondence, mailings, acknowledgments, and other meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a robust donor stewardship program, including personalized communication, recognition events, and donor calls and visits.
  • Guide the Individual Giving Manager in implementing a pipeline strategy to move donors up the giving ladder.
  • Create customized briefings and proposals for donor solicitations.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Advancement team, and Board of Directors to identify and pursue high-impact funding opportunities.
  • Create and maintain reports to drive decision-making, prioritizing donors and analyzing potential revenue increases across the entire portfolio.
  • Work with Database Administrator on the creation of timely and accurate acknowledgment of gifts.
  • Lead portfolio analysis, prospect research, and donor stewardship strategies.
  • Co-lead the organization’s Development Committee, a standing committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Partner with department staff to align donor opportunities with organizational needs.
  • Partner with the communications team to enhance donor marketing and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising performance and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and organizational policies.

Training and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in non-profit management, marketing, business, or related field. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
  • Personal track record of success in reaching and exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrated experience securing major gift ($10,000+) commitments and developing strong relationships with prospects and donors.
  • Proven ability to work with a customer relationship management (CRM) system, preferably Raiser’s Edge.
  • Proven ability to establish objectives, set performance standards, and organize and motivate a team to achieve goals.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and retaining staff.
  • Demonstrated project management, organization, delegation, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as incumbents are subject to local travel to and from work locations.

  • Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work is required to perform the duties of this job.
  • Hybrid work environment with the expectation of spending an average of three days per week in the office and/or engaging with current and prospective donors.
