Zoox has embarked on a highly ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for our cities. As a technical program manager, you will work cross-functionally with engineering leaders across software, hardware, vehicle engineering, and product to drive our corporate strategy into tactical and detailed road maps that facilitate effective execution at each stage of our growth curve. You will work with each engineering team to develop project schedules, identify milestones, flag risks, estimate budgets, and clearly communicate ongoing progress.

Zoox鈥檚 Technical Program Management (TPM) team is seeking a leader to manage our Software Platform & Systems TPM team. As the Senior Manager of our Software Platform & Systems TPM team, you will partner with engineering management on strategy, roadmapping, improvement of our development & release processes, and guidance of the organization (Software Core, SW Performance, Software Systems Engineering, Robot Systems Infrastructure, Product Security) towards delivering Zoox鈥檚 needs. You will be responsible for a team of experienced senior TPMs and handle performance, mentoring, career growth, retention, and hiring. You and your team will work with the various sub-teams and initiatives within the SPS organization and stakeholders across Zoox to develop project schedules, identify milestones, flag risks, estimate budgets, and clearly communicate ongoing progress.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead an experienced team of TPMs and leverage your technical & managerial skills to deliver high-impact results, while growing the TPM team through hiring & guiding the professional development of team members
  • Set the program management direction for the Software Platform & Systems TPM team, and iterate on our development processes
  • Work with Software Platform & Systems department leaders to translate the top-down corporate strategy and milestones into detailed product roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables
  • Create and deliver technical presentations that explain program initiatives to downstream consumer teams
  • Represent the team in cross-departmental forums, with key stakeholders, and in executive meetings
  • Establish standard reports to provide concise and effective communications to key stakeholders on program status, issues/risks, and accomplishments

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent job experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in engineering, program management, or management consulting
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a team of technical program managers
  • Deep familiarity with software development processes & proficiency in tools or processes required to manage complex projects (i.e. Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, JIRA, etc.)
  • An ability to keep the big picture in focus and to provide clear, well-structured, and concise communications tailored to each appropriate audience
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and ECU architecture in complex systems such as robots, automobiles, aircraft, spacecraft, etc.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Shipped software products to market in production automobiles, aircraft, robotics, spacecraft or other systems that require safety-critical software
  • Experience with reliability engineering or related systems engineering fields
  • Experience with real-time systems and performance optimization
  • Experience with large-scale deploy systems and device health telemetry, including familiarity with developing Big Data technologies like Databricks, Spark, Redshift
  • Experience with cybersecurity in connected vehicles, embedded systems, and automotive protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, V2X, etc.)

Compensation:
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $261,000 to $349,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling and positioning within a level are determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting represents the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
