We are looking for a Senior EMI/EMC Electrical Engineer to work on a growing team developing a composite, electric propulsion aircraft.  You will be responsible for the analysis and design for Electromagnetic Compatibility, Direct / Indirect Effects of Lightning and planning the tests for Electromagnetic Interference and High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) across various aircraft systems. 

Initially, you’ll

  • Learn about the aircraft electronics architecture and hardware development processes
  • Become familiar with applicable aircraft certification process and regulations

As an EME team member you'll

  • Assist aircraft subsystem teams (e.g. airframe, avionics, propulsion) with bonding, grounding design with respect to lightning and HIRF.
  • Analyze, design guidance and test for power and signal integrity including PCB layout
  • Contribute to emissions and susceptibility development and certification test planning, procedures and testing
  • Participate in architecture trade studies, detailed analysis and component specification.
  • Advise the EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect System) Team on shielding/bonding, routing and separation.
  • Help write aircraft and system EMI/EMC requirements
  • Design and test for Direct / Indirect Effects of Lightning on composite structures and other aircraft systems. 
  • Work with suppliers, EME analysis consultants and test laboratories: both technical and project engineering 
  • Make recommendations to continually improve our processes.

Required

  • PhD, MSEE degree with at least two years of experience, or a BSEE/BSME degree with at least five years of experience
  • Design knowledge of electrical bonding criteria, EMI shielding, and High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) 
  • Experienced with DO-160 (or MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 & MIL-STD-1275) testing and aerospace development best practices and standards 
  • Experience designing for certification and troubleshooting EMI/EMC related issues
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired

  • Direct / Indirect Effects of Lightning on composite structures experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with weight minimization is strongly desired
  • Experience writing and executing test procedures for design validation and qualification
