Job Description
We are looking for a Structural BIM Technician to join our Plymouth team.
The right candidate will be able to contribute to projects and work to set deadlines.
They will demonstrate strong communication and self-motivation, with the ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels
The Structural BIM Technician will be expected to;
- Review and contribute to all contractual BIM documentation (BEP, MPDT, EIR, etc) adhering to AECOM requirements and highlight areas of concerns/risk if required.
- Develop and manage BIM data rich models to meet the required BIM use including design document production and co-ordination, under broad direction from the project team or Project Manager. 3D Models should be of sufficient integrity to enable accurate scheduling, and able to create high quality detailed documentation.
- Manage and document control in-coming/out-going models & drawing information, using project extranets and CDE’s, to comply with the project requirements
- Attend BIM Kick off meetings
- Attend BIM Co-ordination meetings
- Ability to contribute and support clash detection workshops and processes.
- Manage their workload and be accountable for ensuring that deliverables are of the necessary quality expected of them
- Perform self-checks (QA/QC) on their work using various techniques and approaches.
Minimum requirements –
- Experience in structural Revit/BIM modelling, and co-ordination of structural models with other disciplines
- Knowledge of cloud-based applications for sharing/reviewing models (BIM360/ACC), and an understanding of interoperability workflows and challenges with wider software such as design and analysis software.
- Ability to implement BIM Execution Plans and BIM Standards
- Knowledge of BIM, multi-discipline design development, construction documents, technical and engineering knowledge
- Ability to prepare models, drawings and details fit for purpose
- Knowledge and experience of authoring applications such as Revit (Primary) and a good level of experience and understanding of Navisworks
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of the UK BIM Framework, ISO19650 suite of documents and relevant PAS 1192 documents to allow implementation of AECOM best practice procedures and protocols.
- Excellent presentation, communication and client facing skills.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- The ability to understand construction methods and manufacturing processes.
- The ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall priorities.
- The ability to work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met, whilst delivering high quality work.
- The ability to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients.
- Must be able to obtain relevant UK security clearance.
Desirable attributes -
- Have a working knowledge or understanding of Dynamo/Rhino/Grasshopper
- Understanding of applicable BIM requirements and implementation (COBie, Uniclass 2015, NRM, IFC)
- CADS-RC detailing experience
