With this growth, it’s the right time to bring on an experienced, customer-centric leader to refine our story, drive growth across the funnel, and build a world-class team. A founding member of the Kenya office, you’ll shape every aspect of the company’s expansion and work hand-in-hand with the CEO, Head of Sales, and overall leadership team. This role is a ground-level opportunity to make a demonstrable impact on EV adoption in Africa, shaping not only the health of our planet but helping to create cleaner, healthier cities in the process.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Marketing will oversee all aspects of the function: Shepherding the brand, crafting insights-driven product launches and sales collateral, and generating high-quality leads through campaigns, events, and our retail showroom footprint.
Responsibilities:
Team leadership: Hire, manage, and mentor a small-but-mighty team of Kabisa marketing specialists, freelancers, agencies, and consultants in service of your overarching vision for the function
Product marketing: Deeply understand EV buyers as an audience, develop our positioning and messaging, and craft communications connecting key audiences to our value prop
Performance marketing: Build a strong, data-driven growth marketing engine, experimenting to identify 1-2 replicable, efficient lead gen channels
Marketing attribution: Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the funnel is optimized, leads are processed and attributed properly in the CRM, and measurement best practices are uniformly followed
Content marketing: Own the content strategy and calendar, prioritizing high-value narratives and news to fuel the lead gen engine
Brand-building: Steward the Kabisa brand, ensuring all regions and teams are consistently applying the existing brand guidelines
Requirements:
6+ years of relevant experience in product marketing or performance/growth marketing, ideally for a high-growth B2B company operating in East Africa (early stage startup experience or knowledge of EVs/Auto industry a plus)
1+ years experience managing direct reports or freelancers to meet and achieve ambitious targets
Demonstrated ability to balance high-level strategy and day-to-day operations, constantly prioritizing opportunities for your team to make the greatest impact
A highly collaborative approach that can bridge competing demands and styles
Experience building funnel optimization systems and processes from the ground up, from lead scoring to automation to lifecycle comms and channel analysis
Talent for breaking down highly complex topics into simple, clear, compelling messages
Exceptional customer empathy, with a knack for rallying organizations around the end-to-end customer experience
Mastery of product marketing foundations: Positioning, messaging, and launch coordination
Comfort in researching, writing, and launching short and long-form marketing content
Ability to identify the right tools and become proficient across the tech and marketing stack you build (prior experience with Mailchimp, Slack, Figma, Canva, AirTable, Google Suite, etc. a plus)
