Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC) Mission Statement:   The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy improves quality of life by enhancing and stewarding Pittsburgh’s parks in partnership with the community.   Position Summary:   The Frick Environmental Center a premiere public facility. A certified Living Building with LEED- Platinum status for environmental design, the Center provides families, students, and learners of all ages with a state-of-the-art space for hands-on, experiential environmental education. The PPC is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as our new custodian. Successful candidates will be able to work proactively with minimal supervision to ensure a high standard of cleanliness at the Frick Environmental Center while adhering to environmentally conscious practices. Work may also include deployment to other locations operated by the Conservancy, including the Schenley Park Visitor Center and Schenley Plaza.   Position Responsibilities:

• Ensures that all facilities are clean, sanitized and safe for visitors and staff
• Specific duties include vacuuming all carpeted areas and rugs, sweeping and mopping bare floors, removal of all indoor trash and recycling receptacles, cleaning and restocking of all restroom facilities, cleaning interior and exterior glass doors, dusting of window frames
• Keeps the facilities team informed of supply needs to ensure cleaning and restrooms supplies are well stocked at all times
• Assists with the setup and breakdown of special events and ensure that all spaces are clean and presentable before and after events
• Responds to spills and accidents as necessary, and keeps the facilities team informed of any and all safety concerns and potential hazards
• Routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs
• Other duties as assigned

Training and Experience: 

• Experience as a professional cleaner is highly desirable but not required
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment
• Ability to physically perform the tasks required to successfully execute all responsibilities
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends
• High degree of trustworthiness and the clearance of a criminal background check
• Ability to interact with all staff and visitors in a friendly and engaging manner
• Self-motivated and proactive
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
