Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Entry Level Highway Design Civil Engineer in the Harrisburg, PA area to join AECOM’s Mid-Atlantic Transportation team working on a wide range of transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area in Mechanicsburg, PA office.
This position is flexible to begin in Early 2025 for December 2024 Graduates or Spring/Summer 2025 for May/June 2025 Graduates.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Design of roadway geometry, traffic control, signing and pavement markings.
- Utility coordination support.
- Computer Aided Design production.
- Calculation of quantities and cost estimates.
- Assists in the preparation of technical reports and memoranda.
- Participates in field visits and site inspections to gather data and assess project conditions.
- Contributes to the development of environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Assists in the preparation of permit applications and regulatory compliance documents.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate various aspects of highway design projects.
- Supports the development of project schedules and helps monitor project progress.
- Participates in client meetings and presentations under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assists in the review of contractor submittals and RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Contributes to the development of construction specifications and contract documents.
- Supports quality control processes by checking calculations and drawings produced by team members.
