Your Opportunity

As the Controller, you will be at the heart of our financial operations and fast-paced organization.  This 14-month contract role offers you the opportunity to lead and optimize our accounting functions while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.


Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer ("CFO"), you will oversee all aspects of accounting management, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.  Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the financial health and integrity of Kathairos, providing accurate and timely financial information that drives strategic decision-making.

Your Responsibilities


Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • You will ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements for the Kathairos Group of Companies in accordance with, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
  • You will conduct comprehensive financial analyses to support strategic decision-making; and,
  • You will present timely and accurate reporting to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and trends.

Process Improvement

  • You will support in the accounting software selection and continual implementation of accounting processes;
  • You will identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains;
  • You will implement improvements in financial workflows and reporting systems; and,
  • You will streamline financial processes to enhance accuracy and timeliness. 

Internal Controls

  • You will establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard and mitigate financial risk;
  • You will regularly review and update accounting policies and procedures, as necessary;
  • You will stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance;
  • You will coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations;
  • You will work with auditors for successful year-end reporting packages; and,
  • You will implement corrective actions based on audit findings.

Team Leadership

  • You will provide engaging and strengths-based leadership and guidance to the accounting team; and,
  • You will perform any leadership responsibilities, including hiring, training and performance management.

Tax Compliance

  • You will oversee tax compliance activities, including preparation and filing of tax returns, and staying abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations.

Cash Management

  • You will manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for the organization's operational and strategic needs; and,
  • You will monitor banking activities and reconcile bank statements.

Strategy

  • You will collaborate with the senior leadership and executive leadership on strategic initiatives and investments; and,
  • You will provide financial insights to support long-term planning and business growth.

What You Offer


Required

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
  • University graduate with a strong academic record.
  • Canadian CPA designation.
  • 10+ years' of direct related experience in accounting or finance, with progressive responsibility and leadership background. 
  • Proven experience in leading and motivating people to foster a positive work culture.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS principles, as well as experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • The ability to work closely with divisional leads to develop and manage budgets effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for senior management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

Valued

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • Additional certifications such as CMA, CFA or CIA.
  • Experience working in the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central.
