Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

You’ll be working as part of Customer Care within OVO Retail and will be at the heart of enabling the transformation to a digital at scale, customer centric business with intelligent operations powered by unified, modern technology. You’ll champion customer excellence and be empowered to make a difference on a global scale through enabling our Plan Zero objectives.

You’ll be part of Operational Excellence, established to measure performance, create insight and oversee and deliver initiatives that create, improve or transform capability - keeping the customer at the heart of the agenda.  

What will I be doing?

Reporting into the Head of Operational Excellence this senior role will lead the identification, design and delivery of medium and long-term opportunities to improve our business as a system and create our pathway to our future state business.   

We're looking for someone who will bring deep business change, design and improvement experience to bear, enabling us to successfully simplify and unify our Retail estate.

You’ll be part of the Operational Excellence Leadership Team (OELT) and help develop a world-class and progressive team that challenges the business to keep moving forward and works with them to deliver our collective goals.  You’ll also play a key role in Operational Excellence and drive the operational improvement and transformational change agenda.

We're ideally looking for someone with significant experience delivering operational and customer excellence initiatives as part of a transformation and investment agenda; someone who has a passion for continuous improvement and putting the customer at the heart of the agenda.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Architecting multi-faceted operational improvement programmes by focusing on simple effective solutions to deliver cost reduction, growth opportunities and customer experience improvements
  • Leading the delivery of transformational programmes or multifaceted improvement initiatives leveraging teams of change professionals across the wider function 
  • Positively influencing the scope, direction and outcome of transformation programmes through cross-functional collaboration
  • Leading updates to the Retail ExecCo and Board on priority change activities 
  • Participating in the shaping of a shared Excellence improvement roadmap with our Chapter Leads (aligned to our customer journeys) with a clear understanding of how the Operational Excellence can act as a change partner
  • Supporting the creation and management of  the Operational Excellence change roadmap as as part of the the wider portfolio plan 
  • Actively participating in OVO’s change community, sharing knowledge and promoting a culture of collaboration.
  • Through mentoring and coaching, supporting the development of a high performing change team with a focus on business change, customer excellence and continuous improvement 
  • Providing thought leadership to the “Lean Academy” around a programme of capability creation and excellence principles.
  • Collaborating with Chapter Leads to develop and shape thinking for future system and process solutions
  • Providing evidence, passion and belief of a better way to lead and enable cross-functional teams to effectively collaborate and deliver operational and commercial excellence
  • Educating and inspiring at leadership level across Retail to improve E2E understanding of the critical customer and business journeys that drive underpin the businesses profitability

  • Led multiple system design type events from start to finish, adapts approach / tools structure to ensure desired outcome achieved. Deriving and delivering the resultant transformation plan
  • Strong business acumen, understands commercial strategy and financial performance. Demonstrates data driven decision making
  • Experience of working in a fast pace, complex and innovative businesses that have seen rapid growth and expansion including through acquisitions
  • Have a strong cross-functional background with experience gathered from different businesses and sectors
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to produce executive level recommendation and decision papers
  • Experience in leading and developing multi-site, matrix teams
  • Experience in line management, mentoring and coaching to develop colleagues / teams
  • Energy sector knowledge (desirable)
  • Formal training in lean process design, such as lean six sigma (desirable)
  • Formal training and certifications in change management (desirable)
  • Formal training in running System design events (desirable)
