Our team combines expertise in ocean science, metallurgy and geochemistry to safely and effectively scale up ocean-based CO2 management solutions. Working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders, we develop a cost-effective and sustainable set of tools aimed at protecting and restoring our oceans and climate, ultimately doing carbon dioxide removal and storage at gigatonne scale.

Planetary is seeking a Business Development Associate to assist the VP Commercial in creating an excellent experience for our current and future clients as they purchase highly scalable and sustainable carbon removal credits. 


Core Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Collaborate on cross-functional, revenue driving processes (like RFP submissions) with leaders and executives across the company to ensure that major projects and business outcomes are successful
    • Nurture existing and future relationships through customer facing outreach for account management needs such as providing newsletter updates, scheduling quarterly check-ins, and sending key business updates
    • Research and keep eyes on current market trends to help identify, and even predict which customers are retiring marine carbon dioxide removal credits
    • Maintain sales pipeline CRM and develop bi-weekly reports to keep the team apprised of the sales pipeline

  • Communications
    • Assist with customized decks and collateral, including working cross functionally with other departments to add relevant and updated information
  • Sales Support/ Marketing
    • Assist with organizing and copy-editing external-facing materials, ensuring alignment with brand, and common Planetary tone
    • Maintain a content calendar in concert with communications, ensuring sales and business development are in lockstep

About You

  • You hold a degree (or relevant project management experience) in business, or a sustainability-focused degree with relevant experience
  • You are detail oriented and biased towards action, you have strong project coordination skills including, the ability to establish priorities, break down and estimate lengths of tasks, set and manage schedules, and coordinate multiple projects at one time
  • You have experience interacting with all levels of the organization and know how to identify and raise risks to the appropriate level
  • You have a strong command of English language, exceptional writing and editing skills paired with good communication skills
  • You are curious about climate change technologies and are passionate about protecting our world for future generations
    • Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a strong understanding of the carbon dioxide removal market
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, highly deadline-drive, self motivated and enjoy working independently and within teams
  • You consider yourself an expert with document tools such as GSuite and Microsoft and have experience creating externally facing digital content

    The ideal candidate will be located in Canada, and comfortable overlapping with PST time zones.
