ROLE PROFILE: President, INTELLIGENT AGRICULTURE

SUMMARY

Terramera is seeking a senior business executive to lead our Intelligent Agriculture business. This is a newly created role, critical to advancing Terramera’s long-term Vision.

Our best fit candidate will be a bold, innovative and experienced business leader in the technology space, someone who has set and successfully accelerated business strategies from seed to commercialization and scale. You are outcome focused, putting the customer and their needs at the heart of the business. You have scaled organizations while keeping them nimble and led teams that created products that are beloved by customers. Ideally you also have background and familiarity with agriculture, agtech and/or software used in farming and are excited about bringing regenerative agriculture to the fore of our society.

This leader will help Terramera bring regenerative agriculture to scale through the development and deployment of our technology products and services for farmers, agronomists, consumers and other key stakeholders in the food value chain. 

YOUR MISSION

In Year One, you will create the focus, clarity and team to deliver our short-term milestones and commitments. By the end of Year Two, you will have established Terramera’s foothold as the technology partner of choice for the Regenerative Agriculture industry in North America and as a principal supplier of disruptive soil measurement, reporting and verification services. In doing so, you will have created a cultural and operating mindset to exponentially scale the business on the path to achieving our 2030 BHAGs.

YEAR ONE DELIVERABLES

  • Develop business plans, including path to commercialization, that align our technology development path with our 2030 BHAGs
  • Establish and launch viable working products and services including software for regenerative transition, soil measurement, reporting and verification
  • Structure, assemble and grow a product and farmer centric team obsessed with supporting farmers, their profitability and legacy
  • Lay the groundwork to connect soil health to farmer wealth by linking soil data to producers’ financial data
  • Lead the team in delivering on Terramera’s contracts, grants, partnerships and demonstration projects

Internal

  • Augment and growth bench of key team members to enable the business
  • Implement strong internal satisfaction metrics regarding focus, decision-making, accountability and transparency
  • Built a highly inclusive, regenerative and adaptive culture where team members thrive and organizational outcomes are achieved
  • Embrace and lead a team based on talent density and excellence
  • Set clear objectives and goals for the different groups that align with the vision for the business

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS                                                      

Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the President, Intelligent Ag, works closely with the VP, Regenerative Finance, Head of Talent & Culture, CTO & CFO to set and execute business strategy. The President creates and oversees the leadership structure necessary to achieve the organization’s key goals of the Intelligence Ag business unit.                                                                                                       

KEY RESPONSIBIITIES

  • Proactively manage the Intelligent Ag P&L and develop our corporate budget and forecasts for both the near and long term 
  • Collaborate with the CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team in setting and driving company vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs
  • Ensure continuous alignment and drive toward Terramera’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Work with the leadership to develop and maintain clear and aligned KPIs and hold the leadership and teams accountable for these KPIs
  • Lead the business unit and translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning
  • Oversee every aspect of Intelligent Ag operations and employee productivity
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
  • Streamline business processes and policies to ensure focus and productivity and removing barriers for teams to deliver, create and innovate
  • Drive and promote a culture based on transparency, regular feedback and shared authority to make decisions that are in the best interest of Terramera

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

  • 5+ years’ experience in the following areas:
    • Managing and growing product-led teams in tech and software industry
    • Hiring for and managing technology teams to support platform / software development, commercialization, business development and sales
    • Building a sales and marketing team
    • Leading multiple teams simultaneously, preferably a mix of R&D, Business Development, and in-market Sales and Marketing
  • Agriculture and nature-based industry experience is a bonus

LOCATION

  • 50% remote, 50% onsite in Vancouver, BC
