Job Description

Gridware is on a mission to create a future without deadly wildfires. We’re a startup building hardware and software that monitors the power grid to prevent and detect faults that lead to wildfire ignition. (More about Gridware below).

To make that happen, we’re currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer to join our growing team.


Your challenge

  • Help Gridware overcome key engineering problems surrounding product reliability, assembly, manufacturing, and environmental susceptibility
  • Build scalable design, analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration processes to enable rapid iteration on full-stack systems

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Translate product and hardware requirements into robust mechanical designs that elegantly integrate electrical subsystems
  • Lead decision-making around selection and procurement of mechanical components
  • Define and help in executing the manufacturing process for assembly, integration, and quality control
  • Thrive in agile, fast-paced environments
  • Collaborates well with enthusiastic, collaborative, mission-driven individuals.

Requirements

  • Strong fundamentals and 2+ years of professional experience in product design, Computer Aided Design (CAD) (Solidworks/Fusion360), and Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Experience in designing/manufacturing plastic and metal parts
  • Demonstrated ability to design for integration of electrical subsystems (batteries, camera, PCBAs, wiring harnesses, etc.)
  • Bonus: Experience with designing for long-term outdoor use (e.g., weather sealing, UV-resistance, insulating equipment, etc.)
  • Bonus: Experience with environmental testing of assemblies (e.g., TVAC, vibration testing, field testing, etc.)
