The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience in natural gas trading, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.You will contribute to our team by:<ul><li>Working towards delivering $500-$800M of annual AESO portfolio EBITDA, including incremental trading targets that range from $15M to $30M/year</li><li>Proprietary trading across US gas regions</li><li>Managing ~250TJ/d of gas transport to ensure gas deliverability to our assets</li><li>Modeling North American (and abroad) daily quantitative and fundamental analysis of gas markets, locational basis, transport, storage, weather, etc. to support Canadian and US T&amp;O</li><li>Taking analytics, experience and other key factors into account to formulate and analyze portfolio strategy to ensure Capital Power is optimizing risk and return;         </li><li>Ensuring strategy-based coordination across the portfolio (Real-Time, Cash, Term, Asset, Structured Products) to the extent required;</li><li>Valuing and pricing of Origination deals</li><li>Running daily P&amp;L models</li><li>Proactively communicating market and portfolio changes to leadership</li><li>Consolidating innovative recommendations into implementation plans; providing breakthrough ideas and practical solutions that are in alignment with the vision of the organization;</li><li>Assist in the evolution and executing the Long-Term Hedging Plan across the 2-10-year+ horizon</li><li>Actively share knowledge, understanding, and communicating relevant pipeline toll structures and changes;</li><li>Lending support to portfolio commercial interests and corporate business development initiatives;</li><li>Being an active team member within the Trading team, with related stakeholders and supporting corporate values by demonstrating a positive attitude, acting with integrity and working collaboratively and respectfully with others.</li><li>Abiding by and actively monitoring all applicable risk, credit, process-based policies and procedures;</li><li>Providing input into regulatory files such as AECO and abroad market items like gas tariff structure and cost</li></ul>What you will bring to the role:Education: <ul><li>Minimum a bachelor degree in engineering, economics, computer science, finance and / or mathematics</li><li>Preference towards graduate degrees, CFA, FRM or other financial designation holders</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>5+ years of demonstrated experience of profitable natural gas trading and / or gas scheduling activity across North American Natural Gas markets with a focus on Henry Hub and AECO;</li><li>Experience with physical gas, gas scheduling, asset optimization/hedging, structured products and options;</li></ul>Technical Skills:<ul><li>Experience managing portfolios comprised of diverse asset and proprietary positions;</li><li>An advanced understanding of finance, portfolio theory, risk management principles and statistics.</li><li>Advanced application skills related to MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI).</li><li>Previous experience with gas scheduling would be considered an asset.</li><li>Ability to gather, collate, and analyze large amounts of data using Python, R, and other languages/toolsets. Application of algorithmic methods / machine learning would be considered an asset.</li></ul>Working Conditions:<ul><li>4-days a week in the office, Mon – Thurs.
