ERM is seeking a motivated Consulting Associate, Environmental Planner to join our global consulting firm in our growing Capital Project Delivery (CPD) team.

In this role, you will engage and support multifaceted and dynamic situations with a team of experts to support work through the lifecycle for a variety of capital development projects. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in the collaboration of technical report writing, data collection and analysis, permitting deliverables, and developing strategies and recommendations for clients. You will work closely with ERM Project Managers and Partners on a variety of environmental permitting, due diligence, and impact assessment projects to support our power, renewable energy, oil and gas, and technology sector clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of local land use planning best practices, with an understanding of the key impact assessment and management issues for land development and infrastructure projects (e.g., future land use, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, natural resources, protected species, and visual impact assessment).
  • Assist in preparation of local, state, and federal permitting documents for capital development projects.
  • Provide technical assistance on a wide range of capital infrastructure and other projects including, environmental impact assessment, land use planning, facility siting & permitting, permit matrices/risk assessment, pipeline and/or transmission line routing studies, and other related environmental documents.
  • Participate in field reviews, public meetings, regulatory hearings, and similar project meetings, on an as-needed basis.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to deliver exceptional client value on projects.
  • Work as an integral part of the CPD team and support the goals of the team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • This role is ideal for a candidate with 0 – 2 years of experience.
  • At a minimum, the candidate should possess a BS in planning, environmental science, landscape architecture, geography, civil or environmental engineering, or related discipline. Or equivalent experience.
  • Additional environmental permitting experience, including consulting for private-sector clients, or professional internships is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills and possess written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills.
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Travel requirements are based on client and project expectations (up to 50%).
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background check and drug test.
