Your role will be to architect and develop highly energy efficient software for our next generation solar powered platform. As well as build the team to do it. You will own overall software engineering, and back end data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with the ability to understand complex systems, and have a creative approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities: 

• Lead software team on both front-end robotics, and back end data collection
• Develop innovative energy efficient software for a next generation autonomous robotics platform
• Develop robotics control, vision systems, safety features, and wireless communications
• Manage customer UI software development
• Manage and setup large backend cloud databases
• Test software to reliably interface with sensors, motors, and other hardware
• Maintain high standards through design reviews, fault analysis, and creative innovation

Requirements: 

• Collaborative, high integrity, and humble. We take this very seriously.
• Proven track record leading teams, but willing to make major contributions at an individual contributor level where needed
• Highly detailed, good communicator, and results oriented
• 5+ years experience leading and growing technical teams and commercial products
• 5+ years experience with creating Linux services
• Deep experience with cloud databases
• Track record working working with cloud databases

Indicators of good fit:

• Experience with low power communication and embedded robotics systems
• Experience with convolutional neural networks, visual machine learning, and neural network optimization
• Agriculture analytics background
• MS in computer science or similar

Expectations:

• We’re a start-up, so we all need to wear a lot of hats! This means you’ll probably do a lot of things you’ve never done before, and probably learn some new things too
• Regular on-site visits and travel during the growing season
• Willing to make major contributions at an individual engineering level where needed. Especially early on
