Composite Manufacturing Engineers at BETA are responsible for designing layup tools, fixturing, trim-jigs and work instructions for experimental and certified composite parts. Engineers take ownership of their designs and work with the team to bring first articles to production. This role will drive continuous improvements not just from the manufacturing line, but from integrating ideas for Design For Manufacturability (DFM) to the product design team and providing manufacturability inputs as a key stakeholder in design reviews. The ideal candidate will drive improvements in quality, cycle time, capacity and manufacturing costs of current production while enabling for the future with increased production rates.</span></div><br><br><h3>How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:</h3><ul><li>Design tooling for composite infusion, wet-lay, prepreg processes. </li><li>Fabricate parts using composite infusion, wet-lay, prepreg processes.</li><li>Working hands-on in a shop environment as a team member on a range of composite fabrication tasks.</li><li>Design shop aids and tooling to assist production.</li><li>Evaluate,improve, and advance existing and new novel manufacturing processes. </li><li>Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and streamline operations.</li><li>Assisting in developing new manufacturing processes and technology.</li><li>Experience building items requiring hands-on craftsmanship.</li><li>Assist with timeline management and keep necessary teams updated on status and progress.</li><li>Write work instructions, manufacturing drawings, specifications for above processes.</li></ul><h3>Minimum Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>Experience with wet layup, infusion, and prepreg manufacturing processes.</li><li>Experience with surface modeling and tool design using Solidworks or Catia, including CPD, AICMA packages.</li></ul><h3>Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:</h3><ul><li>Deep familiarity with additive and subtractive manufacturing processes.</li><li>Work with a high level of quality and integrity.</li><li>Maintain a work area in a neat, orderly, and organized manner.</li><li>Familiarity with aerospace quality systems AS9100/NADCAP.</li><li>2+ years experience.</li></ul><h3>Physical Demands and Work Environment:</h3><ul><li>Must be able to be active on their feet for a full 8-hour shift.</li><li>Able to lift 25lbs.</li><li>Able to be in front of a computer for at least several hours.</li></ul><br><div><span style="font-size:18px;"><b>Build electric airplanes with us!</b></span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">We encourage all driven candidates to apply, even if they do not meet every listed qualification.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">We are an equal opportunity employer.
