Elemental is seeking a passionate self-starter to join its pipeline team as a Dealflow Fellow. In this role, you will be a key support for the recruitment and selection of the top climate tech and social equity entrepreneurs globally. In addition to operationalizing the application process for prospective companies, this individual will support in company review and due diligence to help Elemental select the most impactful climate tech companies to fund and bring into our portfolio.

This position will report to the Dealflow Manager and support our engagement with startups across our industries, including: energy, mobility, agriculture, water, and the circular economy. This role is essential to supporting our strategic priority of investing in startup success, particularly supporting founders with deep impact and catalyzing funding into climate tech.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Startup Sourcing & Recruitment

  • Co-develop and drive Elemental’s strategy to reach and support climate entrepreneurs, especially traditionally excluded entrepreneurs
  • Conduct market research and competitive landscape analysis on specific sector(s) to identify gaps and opportunities for impact and investment
  • Manage application platforms and support data management and analysis
  • Support content creation and project management of recruitment-related events and communications

Diligence & Operations

  • Support operationally on due diligence and portfolio selection process
  • Coordinate diligence tasks for Elemental portfolio team
  • Participate in application review and evaluation for a specific industry

Cross-functional Initiatives

  • Support onboarding process for selected cohort companies
  • Collaborate with the partnership team to develop additional funding opportunities between our applicants and corporate partners (e.g. Deal Day Prize, Deep Dives, introduction requests, etc.)
  • Develop thought leadership pieces on Elemental’s role in climate tech commercialization

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Successful project manager that can own and drive a process from start to finish
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to work successfully in fast-paced teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Attention to detail with outstanding organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines with consistency and phenomenal follow-through and documentation
  • Creative and proactive in solving problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest and experience in one or more of our sectors: energy, mobility, agriculture, circular economy, or water
  • Experience working with startups, venture capital, or accelerator programs
  • Experience working with frontline communities and/or social equity organizations

Other Details:

We will consider candidates located in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi or the Bay Area, California. Elemental has a hybrid working model, but will be expected to be available remotely during HQ working hours, and when in-person work resumes be able to commute to one of our HQ locations: Honolulu, Hawaiʻi or East Palo Alto, California.

This is a year-long, full-time "at-will" position working 40 hours per week. There is opportunity to extend the fellowship beyond the year and grow within the organization.
