Elemental is seeking a passionate self-starter to join its portfolio team as a Portfolio Operations Fellow. This role will assist with the management of Elemental’s portfolio companies and cross-functional initiatives. In addition to managing processes for our portfolio companies, this individual will design and implement operational strategies for our portfolio team. This is a dynamic team within the organization that works directly with companies to help them scale and make a positive impact.

This position will report to the Director of Portfolio Operations and support our work with startups across energy, mobility, agriculture, water, and the circular economy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Portfolio Contracting & Processing

  • Review and synthesize deliverables from portfolio companies’ project and strategy work and drive process for approvals and payment
  • Lead the coordination between portfolio, finance, and legal teams on portfolio contracting documents and processing
  • Manage internal tracking of contracts and project status
  • Work with Elemental team members to address and resolve questions and requests related to portfolio company payments

Pipeline & Diligence

  • Conduct market research and competitive landscape analysis on specific sector(s) to identify gaps and opportunities for impact and investment
  • Support operationally on due diligence and portfolio selection process
  • Participate in application review and evaluation

Cross-functional Portfolio Initiatives

  • Support various programmatic initiatives, such as portfolio communication, convenings, events, services, investor relations, partnership connection, etc.
  • Develop thought leadership pieces on Elemental’s role in climate tech commercialization

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Successful project manager that can own and drive a process from start to finish
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to work successfully in fast-paced teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Attention to detail with outstanding organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines with consistency and phenomenal follow-through and documentation
  • Creative and proactive in solving problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest and experience in one or more of our sectors: energy, mobility, agriculture, circular economy, or water
  • Experience working with startups, venture capital, or accelerator programs
  • Experience working with frontline communities and/or social equity organizations

Other Details:

We will consider candidates located in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi or the Bay Area, California. Elemental has a hybrid working model, but will be expected to be available remotely during HQ working hours, and when in-person work resumes be able to commute to one of our HQ locations: Honolulu, Hawaiʻi or East Palo Alto, California.

This is a year-long, full-time "at-will" position working 40 hours per week. There is opportunity to extend the fellowship beyond the year and grow within the organization.
