SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Director, Transmission & Market Analytics to join our Utility-Scale Solar + Storage team. The Director, Transmission & Market Analytics will serve as the lead for transmission and interconnection activities from a market and commercial perspective. The primary responsibilities will include oversight of the transmission and interconnection process for the project portfolio, evaluation of transmission opportunities, rights, constraints, pricing, and congestion to support the team’s organic project development and acquisition efforts. Open to candidates in a remote location, although working from the Nexamp office in Chicago/Boston/Austin is preferred.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with leadership and internal/external stakeholders to grow the company's portfolio through the identification of new transmission and interconnection opportunities in various target ISOs (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, NYISO,..).
  • Develop a thorough understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection options for projects, and the related costs, benefits, and challenges for each option.
  • Determine the optimum plan/strategy for project interconnection using analytical tools and methods.
  • Lead technical and economic evaluation studies of solar and solar + storage energy projects, including congestion and curtailment studies.
  • Monitor tariff and policy changes in target markets and provide a detailed and complete understanding of the interconnection process to the broader organization.
  • Track key transmission upgrades in target markets.
  • Clearly communicate any commercial risks to Business Development team and senior management, as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular update meetings with utility-scale team.
  • Effectively manage team and 3rd-party resources to achieve efficient and scalable operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to Nexamp’s mission and a passion for solving tomorrow’s climate crisis today.
  • 5+ years of transmission and interconnection planning experience on renewable projects. 
  • Transmission planning experience at a utility, ISO/RTO.
  • Ability to use proficiently Siemens PSS/E, PowerGEM TARA or other powerflow software.
  • Ability to use PROMOD, UPLAN or other electric market simulation software.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and market issues specific to transmission.
  • Broad network of contacts across US regional grid operators.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Advanced Degree in electrical engineering (EE) from university with an accredited electrical engineering program strongly preferred.
